That Inner Nudge

That Inner Nudge How often do you listen to your inner nudge? Despite chanting and mediating I often don’t hear, or rather don’t listen to that little elbow shove from the Universe. I hear a whisper to do something and then washing up, making meals, sorting and sifting through daily life, takes over and before I know it I’m in bed again thinking about what I could have been, promising myself that tomorrow will be different. Yesterday I paid attention to the little...

We need…….or do we?

We need…….or do we? “We need a pencil-case for all the drawing stuff”. “Yes we do, I’ll get one next time I go shopping”   This is the very thinking needed to keep the wheels of the global consuming machine turning. I don’t want to be thinking like this, driven by a society and culture I don’t even agree with, but I am a product of my generation, brainwashed into thinking my wants are needs and that a little purchase here and...

In a land based home I think it would be easier to find a nice warm niche for him, a...

Setting your intention

Setting your intention “If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.  Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.” Henry Thoreau. In March 2010 I started a blog, I have racked my brain trying to invent a more pithy, clever and entertaining way to express what I feel and I can’t, that was it and still is: How to be happy with less: I wish to extract myself from the dis-ease of the...

A Love Affair

A Love Affair A sugary piece; white bread spread with marg or butter then liberally sprinkled with sugar. A sugar cube stuck in the top of an orange and sook A wee bowl of sugar and a stalk of rhubarb. Sugar on my already sweetened cereal. Sticky buns for the corner bakery. My love affair with sugar began early and continues though it’s more of a torrid romance now in need of ending rather than something to swoon about. An article posted on Facebook prompted me...
