Grumpy to Grateful

Green weed below the water line, needs a serious scrub

Filthy hull and fenders

Leaking dingy

Sand and dust from the desert all over the deck

Shop with only lettuce and soft tomato masquerading as fresh veg

Headache and nausea,

Exhaustion, sunburnt shoulder

Weepy and emotional

Another bad nights sleep

Walk to the shower and toilets like a building site, dusty and dirty

Parcel I needed now arrived in Malta and we are in Gozo

Water needing filled

Bags to be stored

Off soya milk from the not cold cold-box

Brighten up your corner

Some days it’s hard to be grateful, and then I remember Edenlands posts about Africa and I have to pull myself together:

Unlock your gratitude

There’s no where I NEED to go and nothing I HAVE to do today

My children are well fed and have plenty of water to drink

They have great opportunities to study and learn

We are all safe from danger real or imagined

We are free

We have enough of everything we need and more

We are all relatively healthy and able

The sun is shining

We went swimming in the sea yesterday

Mr S is fixing the leaky dingy

No.1 son helped pack the bags away under his berth

No. 1 daughter cleaning out the stinky water bag

My health is improving

I have the luxury of time to feel my emotions

I had my haircut last week and bought some new clothes

My daughter is in seventh heaven since I bought her high heels, and believe me that is good for everyone!

Our boat is sound, safe and strong, she tells the story of her adventures from the scars and dirt she carries.

I had a hot shower this morning, first for over a week, lovely

We’ve got fresh fish for tea bought from a local fisherman

I love my family and they love me, even although we had a fight yesterday.

It doesn't take much to change

Just writing this list has lifted something from me. None of it is real. What seems a burden today may bring joy tomorrow.

Gratitude lists, best written when I least want to, do you write them?

Gratitude lists are fantastic, they put in perspective what really matters and help us focus away from worries, negativity and loss onto the wealth of beautiful, wonderful, joyful things around us. Thank you for reminding me and yes, I do keep a gratitude list on a fairly regular basis.
Lots of love to you, Mairi, and to all four of you!

I think I’m going to be exploring gratitude more over the next wee while, it keeps popping up in my life! Lucky me. XX
