How’s it going?
What’s going on?
Have your expectations surfaced?
It’s easy to start to expect things of our mediation. We want to be more relaxed, to float along through life, we want to do it “properly”, we want to feel connected, moved and more spiritual, or whatever it is you hope for.
Let go and keep meditating.
I say this because I have done all these things; do all these things and whilst there are many benefits from meditation expecting them sets us up for disappointment.
We begin to judge, criticise and to measure, and when it fails to live up to our desires we quit. “ It wasn’t working anyway,” we say.
Let go and notice. Notice that you feel that way, observe yourself.
and
keep meditating!
More Monday meditation next week, and in the meantime;
Is anything different? Has anything changed?
Hi Mairi, Love the site, so bright and welcoming! I always seem to be getting back into my meditation and I always have to start back with letting thoughts pass, not holding onto them, just letting them fall out of my mind. Just being, just being present in the body. i like to try to just sit within my heart centre…..always challenging, but also I generally get fleeting moments of reward as well.
Love to hear more about your meditation experiences. I love boating, so serene, must be lovely to meditate on when you get a quiet moment.
Mel
Thanks Mel, it’s lovely to get some feedback about my site. Like you I am learning to let my thoughts pass. I had a lovely experience this morning where it felt like the nowness sort of energetically expanded to gently push the thoughts outwards so they didn’t get hold, very nice though fleeting. it’s an interesting journey mediation and I will be sharing more.
The boating life has it’s ups and downs and getting a quiet space to mediate is perhaps the greatest challenge, something perhaps I could share about. X
